I am currently running a Quadro P400 on it specifically for Plex transcode. Both require you to trick the Nvidia drivers to work from inside the Windows VM (Turns out you have to get up to the p2000 before nvidia allows vt-d by default). If you take plex hardware transcode into account that may affect your CPU choice. NVIDIA Quadro P400 Graphics card GPU 2GB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 great for PLEX. I’ve run into a problem with getting HW transcoding to work on a Debian 10 server.
GPU: Nvidia Quadro P400
Nvidia driver version: 440.100
HW acceleration is enabled in PMS settings.
When running a 1080p to 240p transcode (for testing), both Nvidia-smi and nvtop pick up the transcode, but let the CPU do all the work (328%, 4 core).
Same with 4K to 1080p but with 100% CPU load (400%) and choppy playback.
nvtop shows: -hwaccel:0 nvdec -hwaccel_fallback_threshold:0
Does anyone know what I can do?
I’ve looked into dependencies for Debian (https://wiki.debian.org/HardwareVideoAcceleration)
According to this, two packages are necessary:
I can’t install them because they conflict with the latest Nvidia driver (screenshot).
Plex Quadro P400 Software
Should I downgrade the Nvidia driver?
HDR → SDR tone mapping is here, w00t! Thank you, developers, for your continued efforts on the home theatre front!
Happy as I was, upon testing, my CPU tanked and GPU was sitting idle without a lick of care Naturally, I go digging in the docs to find a very informative support matrix:
I’m in the unfortunate (for this case) camp of Windows, and would like to know :
Quadro P400 Plex Unraid
When will tone mapping on NVIDIA hardware be supported?
On that note, can anyone confirm the linux implementation is successfully offloading to GPU? I’m sitting on a conservative 3770k, Quadro p2000, windows implementation box, and would greatly benefit from proper Windows support
